\nOutlook<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n
Greed<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nMy life is full indeed of gloom.
\nI’ve naught , you see, just this small room.
\nI need more wealth \u2013 that’s misery.
\nWhat joys in great renown! What glee!
\nThe mace and throne I long to own.
\nNo crown too grand for me alone.\n<\/ul>\n\nContentment<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nMy life is full indeed!
\nOf gloom I’ve naught, you see.
\nJust this small room I need.
\nMore wealth? That’s misery.
\nWhat joy’s in great renown?
\nWhat glee the mace and throne?
\nI long to own no crown.
\nToo grand for me alone.\n<\/ul>\n<\/p>\n
\n\nThe Pessimist<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nThat deep red rose \u2013 I see its thorn.
\nI just ignore the scent that’s borne.
\nTo me it’s nothing. I deplore
\nThose scratches that I got before.
\nI just complain about the pain.
\nA lot I think of beauty’s gain!\n<\/ul>\n\nThe Optimist<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nThat deep red rose I see,
\nIts thorn I just ignore.
\nThe scent that’s borne to me –
\nIt’s nothing I deplore!
\nThose scratches that I got –
\nBefore I just complain
\nAbout the pain a lot,
\nI think of beauty’s gain.\n<\/ul>\n<\/p>\n
\n\nDegradation<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nThis skid row bum will win no more.
\nHe’ll strive and lose in his sad war.
\nOn gin he’s hooked – that demon booze!
\nAnd now he’ll loudly sing the blues.
\nHe’s chased away all hope today.
\nWill Spring have cheer? No \u2013 more decay.\n<\/ul>\n\nRedemption<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nThis skid row bum will win!
\nNo more he’ll strive and lose.
\nIn his sad war on gin
\nHe’s hooked that demon booze.
\nAnd now he’ll loudly sing,
\nThe blues he’s chased away.
\nAll hope today will spring:
